Oppie Koppie creche for early developmental

The Oppie Koppie creche is situated in the poverty-stricken area of Prince Alfred’s Hamlet, Ceres. In 2010 the creche opened its doors to 75 children and at that stage already over subscribed. In 2018 a further 3 classrooms were added to accommodate an ever-increasing waiting list. The school can now accommodate 150 children, but due to COVID protocols only 120 children can currently attend the school, to be in line with social distancing.

The Oppie Koppie kindergarden is situated in the poverty-striken area of Prince Alfred Hamlet, Ceres. philosophy underpinning Oppie Koppie is the holistic development of each child. Children are taught the relevance of music, arts and culture, climate change, environmental awareness, and how it all impacts their lives. he Vuya Foundation is proud of their achievements, with more than 800 learners having passed through the portals of the Oppie Koppie creche over the past ten years, they look forward to hundreds more as they continue to build up Oppie Koppie.

She was the first female chairperson of the Western Cape Tender Board, the first Deputy Chair of the Western Cape Gambling Board, the first black female board member at KWV and the first female Chairperson at ABSA, Western Cape. She was the first female chairperson of the Western Cape Tender Board, the first Deputy Chair of the Western Cape Gambling Board, the first black female board member at KWV and the first female Chairperson at ABSA, Western Cape. Mercia is the Executive Chairperson of Vuya Investments a broad base women-led investment company with Investments in Henle South Africa (Pty) Ltd, TUV Rheinland and Tshebo.
